I have been working away on a new body of work over the past year exploring fallen leaves.  Since a child I cannot help myself from collecting a leaf or two on my meanderings and marvel at their colours and patterns.

Casting from the leaves picked on my walks, I have been exploring this familiar leafy theme of colour and decay at the seasons end.

Porcelain has been the main medium of choice here with the leaves painted with underglaze and glazed with a clear glaze which picks up on the fine detail of veins and damage on the leaf.  But I have also been experimenting with red earthenware and black anthracite clay.

I immensely enjoy the challenge of making these fine leaves with the addition of handmade elements of twigs, branches and acorns to bring all together as compositions.

Many of these pieces will go towards an exhibition later this year. For updates you can follow me on Instagram @magsdunneartist
