The Courthouse Gallery & Studios (CHG&S) in Ennistymon has opened its Summer Open Call 2026, showcasing a vibrant mix of artists working across painting, drawing, print, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Curated by Sarah Fuller, the exhibition fills both the Main Gallery and the Redcouch Gallery with an engaging and diverse selection of contemporary work.

I am delighted to have my work ‘Tree Lined View’ included in the exhibition. The piece is composed of seven alternating panels:

  • Porcelain panels featuring a tree‑patterned “wallpaper” design, with tidy trunk and branch lines and uniform textured spaces. Subtle imperfections in the pattern hint at flaws beneath the surface.
  • Monoprint panels created on recycled colour‑catcher sheets, capturing the natural, random and unstructured reality of trees and branches.

The title evokes the tree‑lined avenues of historic estates, where long, straight rows of formally arranged trees symbolised order, wealth, and control over land. The concertina format, offering different interpretations of how we frame and understand nature depending on the viewer’s angle.

The Summer Open Call Exhibition runs from the 19th July to the 14th August at the Courthouse Gallery & Studios, Ennistymon, Co. Clare, Ireland.
